Knowing yourself in Cybersecurity

Yaron and Jeff talked about CliftonStrengths in this podcast. I completely agree with the concept that we need to build our Cybersecurity teams around the strengths of the individuals. I have been doing this for the past several years and it has been very rewarding. It also allows us to help each team member know who has strengths where thy might be needing someone.

It has also shed some light into why our Security Awareness program has had some challenges. Security Awareness is largely about Influencing. That is a not a top strength on my team. Not saying we can’t do it, we just have to be aware that this is not a top strength and might take some additional work and effort and not something where we are energized.
